Ideas for places to eat in Southwold

While visiting Southwold, you might like to visit one of the region's hotels for a bite to eat. Here are some of our recommendations:

Blyth Hotel, Southwold

The restaurant at the Blyth Hotel has been awarded an AA Rosette; simple, stylish dining. It offers a variety of dishes cooked with fresh local ingredients. In summer months you can even enjoy dining al fresco on the sun terrace and a superb Sunday Lunch is served all day from 12-6pm.

The Bar Menu is also available daily - both lunchtimes and evenings - for dining in a more casual atmosphere; why not try their fresh local Fish 'n Chips or the Chef’s famous Chicken Carbonara.

The Swan, Southwold

The Swan Restaurant at the Swan Hotel, Southwold is led by Rory Whelan (former Head Chef of the Hoste Arms, Burnham Market) and features an à la carte menu, which is very flexible - depending on whether you wish to enjoy a three course lunch or dinner, or a lighter meal.

However, if you’d prefer a less formal dining experience, you can choose from the Bar Menu or take traditional afternoon tea in the drawing room looking over the bustling market square.

Food is sourced from local farmers and fisherman, which ensures that the menus are fresh, seasonal and locally-sourced.

Sutherland House Hotel, Southwold

Sutherland House Restaurant is not just a fine dining establishment, it is a neighbourhood restaurant serving local food for local people.

They offer a wide range of dishes, featuring some of the best-sourced produce - fresh from local farmers and fishermen. The restaurant has been awarded 3 gold medals for pork based products using Jimmy Butlers' Blythburgh free range pork; our favourites are their Black Pudding Fritters and Pork Pie with Piccalilli.
